Things every client should know about patentsHow does one obtain a patent? In a nutshell, you apply for it. An inventor hires a registered patent attorney to assist him in preparing and filing a patent application for his invention. The application is a lengthy document which describes, in fairly exhaustive detail, precisely what the invention is and how it works. Typically, a patent application contains a good deal of text and a set of accompanying drawings which walk the reader through precisely how the invention works. Because these applications can run anywhere from twenty to two hundred pages, the preparation of the application entails a modicum of time, effort, and expense. Is it important to file a patent application quickly? Is performing a patent search necessary? Our principal office is in Richardson, Texas. Our clients are nationwide. Law Office of Paul W.
